Some 35 years ago, the arrival of the first BMW 3 Series identified the beginning of one of the most notable success stories in BMW model history. The driveway resembled that of a showroom floor with an assortment of Holden’s (and Nissan’s) lined up.  The ladies were welcomed with a nice hot coffee and tea to start the evening.

Joanne, from Women on Wheels, called our guests into the impeccably clean workshop for the registration and to introduce the ladies to Jason and his team of technicians.

Groups of 5 were formed and sent to each of the 5 demonstration bays.  Cars on hoists. Cars with flat tyres. Some with no tyres. Some with no oil and others with no coolant. Cars with flat batteries.  All ready to be diagnosed, assessed, changed and pumped.  Air filters, all wheel drive, circuits, “diffs“, tread wear, torque, brake pads, traction control,  and many other mechanics of the car were explained in a very relaxed manner.

The technicians were on hand to demonstrate and allow for the ladies to try their luck at changing the wheels, adding coolant, checking oil, checking tyre pressure and some even went as far as realising a blown fuse and how to change it.  The technicians may find themselves out of a job at this rate.

Joanne was a fantastic host and  really ensured the content of each workshop was presented clearly and in “women’s” language. It was a great night – very informative and left everyone feeling a lot more confident and more car aware.

The ‘Women on Wheels’ evening is aimed at acquainting you with the mechanics of your Holden. You will be shown how your vehicle operates, ways of keeping it safe and dependable and what to do in an emergency situation, such as changing a wheel, jump start a vehicle, checking you tyre pressure plus a lot more.

Light refreshments and a free show bag will be supplied on arrival. You will also receive a certificate after the evening.

With thanks to Hyundai Australia, we, Col Crawford Hyundai, were able to invite our customers to take part in a program designed to improve driver behaviour as well as developing existing skills, increasing a driver’s knowledge and awareness.

The days program explored various exercises such as defensive driver development allowing our guests to practice and learn in safe controlled conditions.  All done under the watchful eye of  motoring expert Ian Luff and his expert team.

Following the course, our guests had nothing but praise for Ian Luff and his program.

Today’s event saw a full field of 140 players teeing off early.  And we couldn’t have asked for better weather with top temperatures reaching a high of 21 degrees.

The Holden Scramble has become Australians largest and most successful pro-amateur teams’ event.  It sees teams of 4 compete, with the winners of each team progressing through to the Regional final. All participants receive a pack of Callaway Golf balls plus special offers from Col Crawford Holden, including a $500 cash back offer on all new Holden cars and will go in a draw for a chance to win a brand new Holden Cruze.

There are great team prizes up for grabs. And players also have the chance to win as individuals in categories such as closest to the pin and longest drive.

The 2nd Col Crawford Holden Scramble will be held at Balgowlah Golf Club on August 20.  Col Crawford is fielding 2 teams, made up of our customers and Col Crawford Holden representatives – so please email Nikki if you are interested in participating.

The final event will take place at the prestigious Cromer Golf Club  who will hold their Holden Scramble on August 23.

In a survey conducted recently, it has been discovered that speeding is the leading cause of in-car blow ups, with a majority of partners naming heavy footed offenders as a major point of frustration. 

The survey’s results demonstrated that 25% of male participants and 21% of females found speeding most likely to cause an in-car row.

-          Getting lost was the second-most frustrating issue for motorists and their passengers, with 18% of participants irritated by poor navigation.  The survey showed that  80 % of women complained that their partners never checked the route before setting off, compared to 65 % of men who made the same complaint.

-          Tailgating ticked off 13% of the offenders;

-          Road rage in the driver’s seat angered 12% of passengers;

-          Poor parking bugged 5% of participants. 

Other reasons for sparking in-car arguments, were poor music station selections (4.7%), driving too slow (4.5%) and children fighting in the back (3.9%). 

So, in order to experience a hassle-free  journey we know now what to do to avoid arguments when there are other people in the car – drive within the speed limit, plan your trip ahead, remain calm and alert, pack some in car entertainment for the kids…and download some good music!
