Col Crawford BMW are the proud major sponsors of the team, with Anthony Kearns, Dealer Pricipal opening proceedings. He wished the team safe journey, and he looks forward to seeing the model BMW X6 on the top of Everest, as well as bringing them back when they return to talk of their adventure. Anthony will be joning them team at Base Camp in May – hopefully to celerate their successful summit.

We were honoured to be joined by state MP, Mike Baird, who has wholeheartedly thrown his support behind the team. He spoke of the passion, dedication and good old Northern Beaches character that will get the team to Summit and home safetly.

The aim of the climb is raise much-needed funding plus awareness of Bowel Cancer. Team member, Sandy Hoby, is a Bowel cancer survivor and Stephen Bock, lost his father at an early age to the disease.

Charlie Frew from Bowel Cancer Australia addressed the send-off stating ” No-body wants to talk about Bowel Cancer, yet its Australia’s second biggest cancer killer – and also very preventable and cureable if caught early. These climbers are not just raiding funds but have already helped to significantly increase the awareness of this disease. I tahnk them all for what they have already done, and what they are about to acheive.”

Kerrie attended an Everest night in November, and not only took home a taste of what was ahead but a Col Crawford water bottle that would travel with her.

Stephen Bock completes Hike 320, and is met by local member, Tony Abbot

Trekking the equivalent of 7 and-half marathons, Stephen covered over 320km’s on his six day hike from Canberra.  Stephen completed Hike 320 in a bid to raise money and awareness for Bowel Cancer Australia, with the 320 representing the number of people that die each month in Australia from bowel cancer.

Just before midday yesterday, Stephen arrived, tired, but in fantastic spirits having completed his trek. It was great to be there to welcome him, home, with local member of Parliament, Tony Abbot, also there to lend his support of the event.

As proud major sponsor of the Australian Everest 2010 Team we congratulate Stephen on completing this is valuable fundraising event, and inching closer to his Everest dream.

Stephen Bock completes Hike 320

Pete Wells completing 320 km's on a paddle!

Pete set off on Saturday 28th of November, and over 8 days covered the 320km paddle. 320 represents the number of people in Australia who die from bowel cancer every month.

Taking advantage of a strong tailwind, Pete covered a massive 78km on his first day, commeting that he would paddle until “he dropped, or the wind shifted around to the South.”

The Everest 2010 team, who describe themselves as ‘average guys”  also includes Peter Wells and Darren Robertson. The boys will spend up to 3 months at base camp, leaving early next year, with a hopeful summit around May 2010. They are being led by Ronnie Muhl, who summitted Everest in 2007, after failing only 150 from the top the year previous.

In a world first, the team will have real-time webcam technology, built into their suits, so that you will be able view their trek up Everest, and hopefully watch their final steps onto the top of the world.
