What’s in store for MINI, on the eve of its 10th anniversary of being reborn?
The 90’s were a bit of a rollercoaster, many companies changed hands including mini that was acquired by the BMW group in 1994. When they acquired mini, although iconic it was a mass-produced entry –level vehicle. Their vision was to move mini from a to a specialised, more upmarket small car. This of course sent the sceptics off, all agreeing that it would ruin mini. Instead the new owners got work and MINI was reborn, with its first model, the R50, launched in 2001. Improved beyond measure from the old, with new style, better size, greatly improved engine – it still maintained its strong links with its history.
It was an exciting day when Col Crawford MINI Garage arrived – at that time launching only with the MINI Cooper. The MINI Cabrio soon followed, then the awesome and fastest of them all the MINI JCW (John Cooper Works). They were then joined by the quirky which has been a very popular on our the Northern Beaches.
Its hard for us to believe but 2011 will be 10 year since the MINI brand was reborn, and what a year 2011. Why you ask….well the much anticipated, and very very exciting MINI Countryman will arrive in February. Have no idea what a Countryman is? Check out this very awesome clip here….
So how many MINI’s do you think were used in that clip?? Check out the making of the “flow” to find out. The amazingly versatile MINI Countryman, is the first 4 door, 4WD MINI but it still looks like a MINI and most importantly drives like a MINI. We leave 2010 with a bang, with next month the launch of the whole new MINI range, which boasts engine & body tweaks, without changing the iconic look of MINI. Plus the new MINI new engines give you more go-kart fun, fun, fun. They also have a new Bluetooth and entertainment centre integration which makes it easy peasy to integrate you life into your MINI.
It doesn’t matter which reason you choose to hide behind, give into the dream and come and try out your favourite MINI on for size at Col Crawford MINI Garage.
